Placement Policy
For Aevy's Video Mastery School
Aevy's Placement Network is a dedicated support system designed to bridge the gap between skilled editors and top-tier recruiters. Access to this facility is a privilege earned through consistent effort, skill demonstration, and professional conduct. This policy outlines the eligibility criteria, rules of engagement, and code of conduct required to avail of these services.
1. Eligibility & The Process
Admission to the Placement Network is not automatic upon course completion. It is a merit-based entry system. To unlock placement support, the candidate must meet the following "Gateway" criteria:
Attendance & Participation
Consistent attendance in live sessions is expected to ensure skill acquisition. High engagement correlates with better placement outcomes. Attending fewer than 60% of live sessions may affect your eligibility.
Quest Completion
You must successfully pass and submit at least 7 out of 10 Quests assigned during the cohort. Students who pass 6 quests may request a one-time resubmission opportunity for one failed quest, subject to mentor approval.
Portfolio Approval (The Final Gate)
- Post-cohort, you will work with "Mentors" to develop an industry-grade portfolio.
- This portfolio must consist of at least 5 distinct (covering different styles, niches, or project types), high-quality videos.
- You must undergo iterative feedback rounds.
- Entry Condition: You are only eligible to fill out the Placement Application Form once your portfolio is officially approved by the Head Mentors.
2. The Placement Process
Once eligible, the following workflow applies:
Application
You will submit the Placement Application Form detailing your preferences (work type, niche, location preferences, remote/on-site, etc.).
Note: Salary expectations mentioned in the Placement Application Form shall only be indicative. The employers will align the CTC with market standards and your demonstrated skill level.
The preferences in the Placement Application Form may be updated once in 3 months by contacting the Placement Team.
On a case to case basis, the Preferences may be updated even in case of any additional skills acquired by contacting the Placement Team.
Matching
The Placement Team will share your portfolio with internal and external hiring partners based on fit. Responses may be received within an estimated 2–4 weeks of portfolio approval. This timeframe is indicative only and is entirely dependent on the hiring partners' internal recruitment timelines and processes.
Continuous Improvement
You are encouraged to keep practising and updating your portfolio even while applying when bandwidth allows. A stagnant portfolio lowers your chances.
3. Code of Conduct & Professionalism
Recruiters trust Aevy because of the professionalism of our candidates.
Any violation of this code of conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to the withdrawal of offer letters, immediate removal from the Aevy Placement Network, and suspension or termination of placement support, as deemed appropriate by the Placement Team.
All decisions relating to eligibility, shortlisting, matching, penalties, dormancy, suspension, reactivation, and continuation or withdrawal of placement support shall be made at the sole discretion of Aevy, based on internal assessments and recruiter feedback. Such decisions shall be final and binding.
A. Communication Protocol
Responsiveness You must respond to the Placement Team within 7 business days via the designated communication channel (Discord/Email/WhatsApp as specified by the placement team).
Dormancy Failure to respond within this window will trigger a "Dormancy Warning." You will have 3 business days to respond to this warning. If unresolved, your profile will be marked Inactive, and you will be barred from support. One-time exemptions may be granted for documented emergencies (hospitalisation, family crisis) where formal communication wasn't possible.
Ghosting
- Interviews: If you schedule an interview and fail to attend without prior notice, you will receive a strike. Two instances of ghosting will result in you being barred from placement support for 4 months. Verified emergency exemptions (hospitalisation, family crisis, etc.) may be granted with proper documentation.
- Assignments: If you cannot complete a recruiter's test task or need more than the specified deadline, you must inform the Placement Team immediately. Repeated failure to communicate will lead to barring.
B. The "No Bypass" Rule
Aevy acts as your representation. You are strictly prohibited from contacting our hiring partners/recruiters directly to "bypass" the Placement Team unless explicitly instructed to do so.
Penalty: First violation will result in a written warning. Second violation will result in a Permanent Ban from all future Aevy opportunities.
Note: If a recruiter contacts you directly on LinkedIn or other platforms, you must inform the Placement Team immediately before responding.
C. Internal vs. External Hiring
- Aevy and its sister agencies (Aevy and other AEOS-affiliated companies) are also hiring partners.
- The selection process for internal roles is the same as external roles.
- Recruiter feedback, selection decisions, and rejection reasons shared with Aevy are confidential and may not always be disclosed to candidates. Sharing or soliciting such feedback directly from recruiters without authorisation is prohibited.
- Non-Solicitation: If you are placed internally at Aevy/AEOS, you are considered "Successfully Placed." You may not use the Placement Network to seek other external employment while employed by us.
4. Offers & Placement
Response Time
You must accept or reject a formal offer (or respond to an intent to hire) within 48 hours.
Rejection Policy
You may reject an offer if it does not meet the preferences stated in your application, provided you have a valid reason.
Penalty: Rejecting multiple offers that do meet your stated preferences will result in being barred from the Placement Network, unless your circumstances have materially changed (e.g., family emergency, relocation, health issues). Up to 1 rejection with valid reasoning will be considered before penalties apply.
Rejection from Placement Team
The Placement Team will be sharing your portfolio with multiple recruiters in accordance with your details as shared in the placement application form. If the candidate is rejected by 5–7 recruiters back-to-back, they will be notified and the candidates will be frozen out of the placement process for the next 30–45 days . These days are inclusive of placement period (6 months), they can come back and avail placement subject to reapproval by the Mentors.
5. External Placement
Removal of Barring Period
The previous policy requiring a 3-month barring period for external applications is no longer in effect.
Roster & Revamping System
We now follow a roster system tied to your placement status:
- Freezing Period: If a candidate is required to undergo portfolio revamping (e.g., after multiple rejections), their internal placement support will be temporarily frozen.
- External Application Allowance: During this specific freezing/revamping period, candidates are fully permitted to apply for roles externally.
- Resumption of Support: Once the portfolio revamping is complete and approved by mentors, internal placement support will resume.
- Reporting Obligation: To maintain the integrity of Aevy's recruiter network, candidates must continue to immediately inform the Placement Team of any external selection processes or offers received during this time.
6. Scope of Support
Duration Placement support is valid for up to 6 months from the official end date of the cohort.
Types of Roles We prioritise Full-Time Jobs and Internships.
Freelance Freelance gigs may be shared in the community Discord #gigs-opportunities channel. These are not verified by Aevy, and you engage with them at your own risk. The Placement Network only focuses on long-term employment.
Breaks
- You may request a break for valid reasons (exams, medical).
- Limit: The total break period cannot exceed 20 days.
- Extension: An extension of support (up to 10 days) may be granted for valid, approved breaks, at the sole discretion of the team. This extension is in addition to the 20-day break limit, allowing a maximum of 30 total days off with approval.
Post-Placement Support
Our obligation officially ends once you accept an offer. However, if genuine issues arise (e.g., toxic workplace, non-payment) within the remaining placement period, you may reach out. We will verify the claims through documented evidence (pay stubs, email correspondence, etc.) and, if genuine, may reactivate support. Reactivation is limited to cases with clear documentation of non-payment or contract violations.
7. Re-Activation
If you are barred or marked dormant (e.g., due to ghosting or lack of response), re-entry is not guaranteed.
Re-Vetting
To reactivate your file after a penalty period, you must submit a fresh/updated portfolio for review to prove your continued commitment and skill level. The portfolio must demonstrate significant improvement in technical skills, storytelling, or breadth of work compared to your previous submission. The Placement Team will provide specific feedback on what improvements are needed.
8. Marketing & Success Stories
By availing of placement support, you consent to Aevy using your success story for community updates and marketing purposes to celebrate your achievement.
9. Disclaimer
